The Honda CR-V is our single deepest model anywhere in inventory at nearly 60 units. AWD and 4WD

More than 560 vehicles across our inventory are all-wheel or four-wheel drive, and the large majority of those are SUVs — so you have real choice here rather than one or two options.

The practical difference: AWD is always-on and automatic, which suits snow, slush and wet on-ramps — the CR-V, RAV4, Equinox, Edge and Explorer sit here. 4WD is driver-selected and geared lower, better for deep snow, unpaved surfaces and towing — Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Tahoe, Suburban and 4Runner sit here. Because SUVs are our highest-volume category, all four stores carry a real selection. Joliet (1506 W Jefferson St, (815) 725-0850) has the deepest inventory overall and is the easy stop from Plainfield, Shorewood, New Lenox, Lockport and Braidwood. Elgin (881 E Chicago St, (847) 429-2681) serves Streamwood, Bartlett, Carpentersville, Huntley, Hampshire and the Dundees.

Waukegan (2741 Belvidere Rd, (847) 749-5175) covers Gurnee, Antioch, Winthrop Harbor, Zion and North Chicago. Crestwood (14112 Pulaski Rd, (708) 691-9142) covers Oak Forest, Midlothian, Alsip, Worth, Robbins, Hometown and Orland Park. Open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

SUV Shopping Questions

Do you have three-row SUVs with seating for seven or eight?

Yes — Traverse, Acadia, Highlander, Pilot, Sorento, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon XL, Expedition Max and XC90 are all currently in stock. Use the seating capacity filter to pull them up directly.

How much can a specific SUV tow?

Towing capacity depends on engine, axle ratio and whether the factory tow package was ordered, so two identical-looking vehicles can differ significantly. Give us the VIN and we'll confirm the actual figure before you buy a trailer.

Are used SUVs more expensive to insure than cars?

Not always — mainstream family crossovers often insure at or near a comparable sedan. Performance and luxury models are a different matter. Get a quote on the exact VIN before you sign.

Do you have SUVs in a lower price range?
