Cargo Vans for Chicagoland Trades and Delivery Work
A cargo van is a rolling tool crib, and the right one saves you time every day. We carry around 25 used cargo vans across our four Illinois dealerships — enough to compare configurations side by side rather than taking whatever one van a small lot has out back.
Currently in stock: Chevrolet Express Cargo Van (11), Ford Transit Cargo Van (5), Ram ProMaster Cargo Van (3), GMC Savana Cargo Van (2), Ford Transit Van (2), plus a Ford Transit Connect and a Chevrolet City Express for lighter work. For box bodies and chassis, see box trucks and cab chassis; for pickups, see used trucks.
Roof Height, Length and Payload
Three specs decide whether a van fits your trade, and it's worth measuring before you shop rather than after:
Roof height. Standard-roof vans fit in home garages, parking decks and drive-thrus. High-roof vans let you stand up inside, which changes the job for electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs and anyone who effectively works out of the vehicle. If you'll be building shelving and doing assembly inside, buy the high roof and accept the clearance trade-off.
Length. Compact vans like the Transit Connect and City Express park anywhere in the city and hold more than you'd expect — good for courier work, locksmiths and light service calls. Full-size long-wheelbase vans take sheet goods, ladders and pipe. Measure the longest thing you routinely haul.
Payload rating. Cargo volume is not carrying capacity. A van loaded with tile, fasteners, batteries or fluids hits its weight limit long before it fills up. The figure is on the door jamb sticker — call us and we'll read it to you.
Upfits
Some vans arrive with shelving, partitions, racks or interior lighting still installed from the previous owner's business. If the layout suits your trade, that's meaningful value you didn't pay to build. If it doesn't, most of it comes out with a socket set. Ask us what's currently on the lots — we'll tell you what each van actually has rather than guessing from the listing.
Note that commercial vehicles fall outside our 7-day return and exchange policy, so inspect thoroughly and bring your own mechanic if you want one.
Serving Contractors From Four Locations
Out of Joliet (1506 W Jefferson St, (815) 725-0850) we're convenient to Will County contractors working Plainfield, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Channahon and the I-80 corridor. Crestwood (14112 Pulaski Rd, (708) 691-9142) covers the south-suburban trades in Alsip, Blue Island, Midlothian, Oak Forest, Tinley Park and Chicago's southwest side.
Elgin (881 E Chicago St, (847) 429-2681) reaches Kane and McHenry County service businesses through Carpentersville, Huntley, Algonquin and St. Charles. Waukegan (2741 Belvidere Rd, (847) 749-5175) covers Lake County from Gurnee and Libertyville up to Zion. Sales hours are 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Saturday — before and after most job-site days.
Cargo Van Questions
Do you have high-roof vans I can stand up in?
Roof heights vary across the Transit, ProMaster and Express vans in stock. Call and we'll tell you exactly which ones are high-roof rather than have you guess from photos.
Are any of your vans already fitted with shelving?
Some are. Ask us what's on the lots right now.
How much weight can a specific van carry?
Payload is listed on the door jamb sticker of each vehicle and varies widely by model and configuration. We'll read it to you over the phone.
Cargo van or pickup truck for my trade?
A van if your tools and materials need to be secure, dry and organized — electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, courier work. A pickup if you haul bulky, dirty or oversized loads — landscaping, concrete, demolition, roofing. We stock both, and comparing them on one lot is the fastest way to decide.
Can I finance a work van?
Talk to our finance team about your situation directly. We work with multiple lenders, and most retail approvals come back in under an hour.
Prices exclude applicable taxes, title, license, and other government fees. Financing options available with approved credit. Payment examples are estimates only and may vary based on lender approval and credit profile. Please confirm vehicle details and availability with our team prior to purchase. Some vehicles may have open safety recalls.
